צ'ק-ליסט דיגיטלי לפני טיסה לקמבודיה: 7 דברים שחייבים לבדוק

Preparing for a trip abroad is more than just packing clothes into a suitcase. An important part of the preparation is ensuring you stay connected when you arrive at your destination. Cambodia is an excellent example — an amazing destination with life far from the city, and you'll need internet to navigate, find a place to sleep, or simply stay updated with home.

If you're planning your next trip to Cambodia, here's a digital checklist to help you avoid surprises abroad.

1. Decide on your connectivity solution

There are three main options: international roaming, a local SIM card, or eSIM. Each has its pros and cons. Roaming is usually the most expensive. A local SIM card requires you to physically swap your SIM at the airport. eSIM is the modern solution — it installs by scanning a QR code, with no physical card, and no need to swap anything on your device.

2. Check your device compatibility

Not every phone supports eSIM. If you own an iPhone 11 or higher, or a modern Android smartphone, you likely have the technology. If you're unsure, check your device model online before your flight. It's better to find out at home than at the airport.

3. Install the eSIM in advance

If you've chosen eSIM, don't wait until you land in Cambodia. Install it at home, before your flight. Usually it takes one minute — scan a QR code, receive a confirmation message, and you're all set. When you arrive at your destination, you can activate your data immediately.

4. Turn off data roaming on your Israeli SIM

Before you leave, turn off data roaming on your Israeli package. Your Israeli SIM will remain in your device (if you have a physical card or Israeli eSIM), but roaming will be turned off. This will save you unexpected costs if your Israeli SIM doesn't include a roaming package.

5. Check your device's battery level

It's a simple tip, but important. Installing eSIM requires internet connectivity and sufficient battery. If your device dies at the airport, wait for it to charge before installation.

6. Save your eSIM provider's contact details

If you have any connectivity issues in Cambodia, you'll need to contact support. Keep the phone number, email, or support app of your provider easily accessible. Also, save your passport number — some providers may ask for it to verify your identity.

7. Check your roaming plan

If you've chosen a local SIM card, research in advance which companies work well in Cambodia, how much it costs, and how much data you need. If you've chosen eSIM, check the amount of data in your package — is it enough for a week, two weeks, or a month?

Cambodia offers unforgettable experiences, from the temples of Angkor Wat to the nightlife of Siem Reap. But to enjoy your trip worry-free, good digital preparation is essential. Check the details, install your eSIM, and set off with peace of mind.
