How to Install and Activate Your eSIM

Choose your device type — and get simple, step-by-step instructions.

🌍 You're abroad and want to make sure you're browsing through nRed?

The most important thing to know: your data should go through nRed's eSIM card — not through your Israeli mobile provider (which will charge you a fortune). Here's how to check in 30 seconds:

1 Turn off the Wi-Fi for a moment. 2 Make sure that nRed's data roaming is turned on, and your Israeli line's is turned off. 3 Open a website in your browser. Loaded? You're browsing through nRed ✅
📱 Choose your device:
✅ Check that your device supports eSIM⌄
1Open the phone dialer and dial: *#06#
2If a number appears named "EID" (long number) — the device supports eSIM ✅
3Alternatively: Settings → General → About → scroll down. If an "EID" field appears — there is support.
💡 Every iPhone model XR / XS and above (from 2018 onwards) supports eSIM.
⚠️ iPhones purchased in China (and some Hong Kong models) do not support eSIM.
📲 Installing the Card (QR Scan)⌄
⚠️ Before starting: Connect to Wi-Fi — you need internet to download the card. It's recommended to install it while still in Israel before the flight!
1Settings → Cellular → "Add eSIM" / "Add Cellular Plan".
2Select "Use QR Code".
3Scan the QR code we sent you via email / WhatsApp.
💡 Reading the email from the same phone and can't scan? Select "Enter Details Manually" and paste the code from the email (SM-DP+ and Activation Code).
4Wait a few seconds for the card to download and install. You're done ✅
🔛 Activating the Card and Setting a Name⌄
1After installation, a setup screen will appear — give the card a clear name: "nRed" or "Trips".
2"Default Line" — keep your Israeli line (for calls and SMS).
3"Cellular Data" — select nRed.
4Turn off "Allow Cellular Data Switching", so your phone doesn't go back to browsing through the Israeli line.
💡 The Israeli line remains active for calls and SMS — only browsing switches to nRed.
🌍 Activating Data Roaming⌄
⚠️ Critical step! Without this, the card won't browse abroad.
1Settings → Cellular → Select the nRed line.
2Activate "Data Roaming" — it should be green.
💡 Don't worry — this doesn't obligate you! The nRed package is local data. The "roaming" just allows the card to connect to a network abroad.
⚠️ Make sure data roaming on your Israeli line is turned off — to avoid accumulating charges from the cellular company in Israel.
📶 Make sure you're browsing through nRed and not your cellular network⌄
1Turn off Wi-Fi for a moment (Settings → Wi-Fi → Off) to check cellular browsing only.
2In the status bar at the top, verify that you have signal and a data indicator (4G/5G).
3Open a browser and try to access a website — if it loads, you're browsing through nRed ✅
4Settings → Cellular → under nRed a "Cellular Data" counter appears — if the number increases, the card is active.
💡 Abroad on Wi-Fi at a hotel? Turn off Wi-Fi for a moment, browse, and verify everything works — this way you'll know you'll stay connected through nRed on the street too.
💾 Activating data saver⌄
1Settings → Cellular → Select nRed line → "Data Mode".
2Select "Low Data Mode".
💡 Saves data: Turns off automatic updates and background downloads. Recommended for small plans.
📡 Check that no Hotspot access point is active⌄
1Settings → Personal Hotspot.
2Make sure "Allow Others to Join" is turned off.
💡 An active hotspot can drain your data plan quickly if other devices connect to it without you noticing.
🗑️ Delete the card at the end of use⌄
1Settings → Cellular → Select the nRed line → Scroll down → "Delete eSIM" (Delete eSIM).
⚠️ Delete only at the end of the trip — after deletion you cannot recover the same card.
💡 No obligation to delete — you can simply turn off nRed data roaming until the next trip.

⚠️ Delete only when finished — after deletion you cannot recover the same card.

⚠️ On some Xiaomi models the eSIM option only appears when one SIM slot is empty — if you don't see it, try removing one physical SIM card.

💡 Can't find the option? Type "eSIM" in the search bar at the top of the Settings screen.
